Iqaluit, Canada – Powertec (Solar) Nunavut, one of the fastest-growing and most innovative solar installation companies in Canada, is thrilled to announce the installation of their first solar system in Iqaluit.
The company installed a solar system with a bidirectional meter at the home of Paul Crowley and Lynn Peplinski. Paul and Lynn will now benefit from dramatically reduced energy bills, as their new technology will provide enough power to cover the cost of their own consumption. In addition, on particularly sunny days when a surplus of energy is generated, this will be available as a credit on future QEC bills.
Powertec (Solar) Nunavut Inc. has other projects underway in Iqaluit and would like to thank Nunavut Safety Services and the QEC for their help in making this install a success. The solar system is mounted on the walls of the house and will convert sunlight into electricity. It contains no moving parts, and the system is expected to produce electricity for the next 25+ years.
Although Powertec is unable to confirm that this is the first system in Iqaluit to be operational under the new solar program, it is undoubtedly the first system they have installed in the region. However, with people desperately looking for ways to reduce their ever-spiraling energy bills, the company anticipates that Iqaluit will become one of their most significant growth areas. They are already discussing increased investment in the area.
